Based in the Amazon Rainforest, Ucayali River Cacao works with about 400 small farmers. Their goal is to produce quality cacao while helping local farmers earn a legitimate income rather than returning to coca (cocaine) production. The tropical forests of Ucayali offer a vast biodiversity with flora and fauna yet to be discovered.
Included with your cacao will be our Peru Bar made from the same beans - this way you will be able to taste our version of the beans as finished chocolate.
Flavor: Fruity and nutty with notes of strawberry and cashew.
Genetics: Mostly Trinitario clones (ICS-1, ICS-39, ICS-95, TSH-565), with locally selected cultivars and older seedlings of native Peruvian origin.
